IMPLANTOLOGY

What is implantology?

implantyImplantology is one of the best reconstructive methods in the stomatognathic system. In the procedure, lost teeth are replaced with implants on which we can rebuild a permanent cosmetic tooth crown. There are various methods to place implants and many implantological systems. In our centre we use the best-tested (and safest at the same time) method introduced in 1965 – BRÅNEMARK SYSTEM.

Thanks to this method, new teeth are placed in the bone and function exactly like natural teeth. Such a procedure has been performed 5,000,000 times all over the world and its effectiveness reached 97%. We are an authorised Nobel Biocare centre. Each implant has a 10-year guarantee. Global network of centres gives the patient a feeling of safety and a possibility to use the services all over the world, where he can find professional help and advice.

Implants show a sensational aesthetic effect and also improve patients’ health condition and general well-being. Thanks to implants, patients may easily laugh, talk and eat whatever they wish. We always try to choose optimal and individual implantoprosthetic solution for the patient. Permanent prosthetic restoration (immovable from the oral cavity) which perfectly imitates patient’s own teeth is the ideal solution.

Sometimes we decide to apply movable prostheses based on implants. Such treatment is much cheaper and it improves the quality of usage for those who have been wearing complete prosthesis appliances. We offer our patients prosthetic restorations made of biocompatible materials (titanium, porcelain). Full ceramic porcelain gives the best cosmetic effect and, as opposed to artificial materials, it does not change the colour, is higinic and does not faciliate bacterial deposit formation.

 Why implants?

implanty In developed societies there are only 2% of people older than 65 years old with a full dentition. It is really a low percentage of people who have no problems with their teeth. Nevertheless, the majority of population lose teeth due to various factors.

It is a commonly accepted fact that patients who use prosthetic appliances have many problems with speaking or eating (they avoid certain kinds of food or eat alone). These food products include for example: food with seeds, nuts, hard and dried fruit, chewing gum, meat, etc.

Implants are costly. Therefore, dear Patient, take good care of your teeth and never make a hasty decision about a tooth extraction.

Is it possible to place implants in one day? What is the course of the procedure?

implanty3
It is possible to replace dentition in one day. However, it requires sufficient diagnostics and the exact plan of the procedure before treatment.

As a rule, after placing implants we apply a temporary crown which after at least four months is taken off and replaced with the permanent crown. Previous radiological diagnostics and certain preparation work are necessary. We also advice our patients to whiten the teeth before this procedure, since thanks to it we can choose brighter fillings and after the procedure it will not be only implants but also patient’s own teeth that will look beautiful.

There are new implantological procedures which allow to rebuild the prosthetic restoration completely on three implants. More often it is more implants used to recreate the dental arch. There is no need to place as many implants as teeth. Usually it is one implant for every two teeth (for esthetic and economic reasons). Very often 6 implants in the upper and lower jaws are enough to rebuild full dental arches.

A modern method which is becoming more and more popular – All on 4 – allows rebuilding of dentition permanently on four implants.
Doctor Wrzuś-Wieliński has been dealing with implantology for the last 13 years.
Apart from placing implants, he also runs training for dentists all over Poland.
